Tom Weathers Kidney Journey

I’m on a journey for life. Completing that journey depends on the generosity of a hero (or is there another word you would prefer). Won’t you consider being that hero?

In 2009 I was told I needed a kidney transplant and placed on the waiting list. After 2 years of dialysis, my prayers were finally answered and on Dec. 31: 2011. I received a kidney from a deceased donor. What a great way to start 2012!

Unfortunately, since then I’ve been hospitalized 3 times for major rejection. In Dec. 2016, I was advised that doctors would not continue aggressive treatment for rejection and I would need another transplant.

In January 2018 I was approved by the Mayo Clinic for a second kidney transplant - that’s the fantastic news - the challenge is that it must be from a living donor, thus the reason for this outreach. The donor must be healthy with aO+ or O- blood type. My insurance will pay for all expenses and my wife Mary and I will pay your travel expenses to Mayo Clinic. Save a Life Inc will also contribute with paying your expenses.

Won’t you consider the ultimate gift? If you would consider being tested please PM Mary with questions. I will be sharing more about my journey on this page - I hope you’ll follow me and join me in this fight for life.
