Mom looking for donor for daughter Cindy
My daughter, Lucinda (Cindy) has had impaired renal function since the age of 10 due to Anaphalactoid Purpura, an autoimmune disease. She is now 49 years old. About 2 1/2 years ago she advanced to End Stage Renal disease. Her renal function runs around 10%. Luckily she has not had to start dialysis but her symptoms (extreme fatigue, itching, nausea, & joint aches) are increasing.
Her nephrologist referred her to K.U. for a transplant. On September 20, 2017, she received a cadaver kidney. The next day, the kidney was not functioning like the doctors expected so they took her back to surgery to check and biopsy the kidney. She was found to have A-HUS, another autoimmune disorder which attacked her new kidney, and was started on Solaris. By Oct. 20, 2017, the kidney had "died" and had to be removed.
The K.U. transplant team is very hopeful that, now they know what Cindy's problem is, by being proactive, they can transplant her successfully. However, they do feel a live donor would be better for Cindy because they think her body would accept it more readily. Their goal is to tansplant her before her kidneys deteriorate to the point of dialysis.
Cindy's blood type is A+. I urge you to please consider being living donor, if not for Cindy, please for another who is in need of a kidney.
